BLE Tag Tracking Explained
GoTEK7's BLE tags work differently from traditional live GPS tracking. Instead of transmitting a continuous real-time position, each tag reports its location periodically — about every 10 minutes.
The tags have no built-in GPS or cellular connection; instead, they rely on surrounding Apple devices to determine their position. When a nearby iPhone or iPad detects a tag's Bluetooth signal, it securely and anonymously relays its approximate location to the owner. This makes it periodic position reporting rather than continuous live tracking.
Notably, the BLE tags sold by GoTEK7 are configured so they will not trigger unwanted-tracking alerts on nearby smartphones.

BLE Tag Tracking Performance
Tracking performance depends on the density of Apple devices nearby. In busy urban areas, tags are detected frequently and updates are regular and accurate. In rural locations, underground car parks, or inside metal containers and vehicles, updates may become infrequent or stop until the tag is back within range of a compatible device.
Accuracy typically falls within a few metres in well-covered areas, though it reflects the position of the detecting device rather than the tag itself. Battery life is long, as the tag only broadcasts a low-energy Bluetooth signal. Overall, BLE tags are best suited to asset location and recovery rather than precise, second-by-second movement monitoring.
